A trip down memory lane

My sister-in-law made me realize today that I didn't have any wedding pictures on here! Ooops! Anyhow, while I was looking around for some pictures, I realized that this year will be our FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY! What!?! That's crazy-talk! Next week will be our 12 year dating anniversary.... craaaaaazy!

Well, enough "talking." Here are some pictures from the magic day that has led us to where we are today, 5 years later... with our own house and 2 kids!

Wedding date & location:  Key West, FL May 18, 2006!

(These last 2 pictures are courtesy of our photographer, Kelston Chaves)

All of that has led to this:

In Lilly's Words

It occurred to me this morning that I haven't made a post about Lilly's 1st words! As with Brock, I never really said "OMG! {insert word here} is her first word!" With both kids, it started off with dadda and mamma. Then hi and bye. I guess her first real word (not like mamma, dadda, hi, and bye aren't) was 'baby.'

Anyway, here is a short list of the words Lilly is saying now:

Mamma
Daddy
Baby
Hi
Bye
Dog (and she barks)
Gato ('cat' in Spanish)
Ow
Wow

She also signs "more" and "all done."

She is also mimicking us all the time. She's so funny :-) She also loves to hum, sing, and dance! She's got music in her soul!!

Your 3 Words

(I made this post earlier this week, but wanted to use it for my "Y3W.")

Lilly had her One-Year well visit today! Seriously, my children are secretly from the Amazon!

Length: 31 inches (95 percentile)
Weight: 22.09 lbs (70 percentile)
Head size: 18 3/4 inches (above 95 percentile)

Big girl :-)  She got 3 shots today.  She also had to have blood drawn to check for anemia and lead levels... apparently the American Medical Association is now making it standard practice to have infants screened for these at their One year visit. The nurse was very pleased that Lilly was so well behaved for it. She said last week he had an 18 - month old in for it and he was freaking out so badly that it looked like a murder scene in the exam room when she was done with him! LOL. Lilly just sat there and watched it! Her levels came back normal, so that is a relief!

The doctor was pleased with Lilly's development and said she couldn't believe how well she was doing. She seemed sort of surprised actually.

As a side note, today was our first day of being out and about most of the day and Brock asked to go pee all day! He's still in the same pull up from this morning! No accidents or anything!

Potty Training

So about 5 months ago I posted that we were potty training with Brock. I think it is fair to say that the post was a little premature! That whole stint lasted like a week :-( This time around we have been really consistent with it.  We started about 4 or 5 weeks ago and did the naked method, where we let Brock run around and play inside the house all day with no diaper or underwear on. Every hour, on the hour, we told him it was time to go potty and put him up on the toilet.  I read an article online a while back that suggested this method. It works!!! He's not 100% potty trained, but this week he has done a great job. He has even started telling us when he had to go pee and poop!! This morning he woke up at 5am crying. I went into his room and he said he was "caca" which he sometimes says when he has to pee. So I grabbed him, took him to the bathroom and he peed!! His diaper was only a little wet! So he's officially in pull-ups during the day and occasionally we let him run around in underwear.

A little tip - don't ask your kid if they have to go potty because 9 times out of 10 they are going to say "no." So instead, as the article above suggests, take your child and tell him/her that it is time to go potty. Be direct :-)

EDIT: So as I was literally pushing "publish post" Brock started doing his little potty dance! I told him it was time to go, we ran to the bathroom and he had a nice big pee! When he woke up at 7am today I took him straight to the bathroom. He said he didn't have to go and his diaper was still dry since I put him in a new one after he woke up to pee at 5am! He just went and it has been 3 hours :-) Awwww!!!! Such a big boy!!! Way to go buddy!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LILLIAN!!!

Happy birthday Lilly! Today is your FIRST birthday! I can't believe it! Yesterday we celebrated your big day and you had such a great time. You are loved by many people! You were spoiled rotten and got a whole new wardrobe :-) I am pretty jealous of that! I couldn't tell you how many times I said "Ugh! I want one just like it!" LOL.

Your party had a cupcake theme and everything was super cute :-) Grammy made you a giant cupcake and mamma and Welling made small cupcakes for all of your guests! We hope you enjoyed your day!

Brock has a special message for you:

Your 3 Words

WoWzA!!! Lilly-girl!! OMG you are ONE! Where did the time go? It makes me so sad that your 1st birthday is this Sunday :-( But I am so happy that you are a beautiful and healthy girl!

Here you were one year ago:

I have been planning her birthday party for a few weeks and cannot wait for it! We're doing a cupcake theme!! Stay tuned for pictures :-)

Real quick, here are a few fun things you are doing now:

- You are repeating A LOT now!!
- You are a dancing machine! Not a beat goes by that you don't shake your tooshie to!
- You are always smiling
- You can crawl on all 4's, but you would much rather army crawl
- You eat anything and everything!! My kinda girl, not afraid to try anything ;-)
- We started your transition to whole milk and so far, so good
- For the most part, you are sleeping through the night (sometimes your pacifier falls out of your crib)
- You have 6 teeth and it looks like 2 new ones are coming soon
- You stop old ladies (men too) at the grocery store and they always give you big blessings!!
- Your favorite thing to eat right now is Cheerios
- You still sleep with your blanket over your head...
- You always bring a smile to everyone's face :-)

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY BABY GIRL!!!!!!!!
