What does a mouse say?

The other day Brock and I were reading a book. It happened to be one with a lot of animals in it, so naturally we were going through the animal sounds. We stumble across a mouse and Brock asks, "What does a mouse say?" Trying my best I squeaked like a little mouse. All of a sudden, Brock turns his sweet little face to me and says, "No, mamma. Mouse says 'Eat more cheese!" I love this age! LOL!!!

HAHAHAHAHA!!! My poor husband was grilling recently and he was a little too close to the grill grates when he lit it up... he lost a little hair from the front of his head and about 1/2 of an eyebrow. Poor guy!! It was hysterical and we're glad it wasn't worse. Love you babe!

Just remember: Keep your eyebrows safe!

Jodi Picoult

Jodi Picoult is easily becoming my new favorite author! Her writing style is so engaging. I've only read 2 books; most recently finishing Vanishing Acts. Let me tell ya! If you're a parent, you have to read this book!! I won't spoil it for anyone in case they want to read it, but I haven't stayed up so late trying to get through a book in a long time. I even had dreams about the characters and the story line. I looked forward to some quiet time so I could pick my Kindle up and get through a few chapters. Totally captivating! Can't wait to read more of her books. It makes you question some things about yourself, about what you would do to protect your children, and following your heart to make you happy ;-)

Thank you Jodi Picoult for writing this story!

{The first Jodi Picoult book I read was House Rules - another GREAT book!}

LOVE TO READ!!

I just sat down to try and figure out a way to keep track of all the books I have read this year. I've always had a love for reading, but since having the kids I am too tired to read before bed. Between working and taking care of the kids I can't focus on my reading and wind up falling asleep before I have finished a page! That all changed when my husband bought me a Kindle for Christmas! I didn't start using my Kindle regularly until about February or March because most of my free time was spent studying for the entrance exams of the PhD program I applied to (and didn't get selected for)... anyhow, I am so happy that my Kindle literally re-kindled {pun totally intended ;-)} my love for reading :-)

So here is what I have read so far:

Currently reading:
Vanishing Acts {Jodi Picoult}

What I have read in 2011:
Two for the Dough {Janet Evanovich}
Bitter is the New Black: Confessions of a Condescending, Egomaniacal, Self-Centered...{Jen Lancaster}
One for the Money {Janet Evanovich}
Delivered with Love {Sherry Kyle}
Water for Elephants {Sara Gruen}
House Rules {Jodi Picoult}
Safe Haven {Nicholas Sparks}

I am hoping to find a cute way to keep this list up on one of the side bars of my blog homepage so I can keep adding to it over the year! I have a little over 50 books downloaded on my Kindle and can't wait to plow through my reading list!!!

What are some books you are currently reading or have read this year?

"The green one! Daddy's favorite!"

"The green one! Daddy's favorite!" Those were the words Brock spoke tonight when we walked into his room for story time before bed...

This is what he wanted:

So many emotions rippled through me in an instant! Happiness for his love of reading. Sadness for his recognition that daddy's favorite book is green.  Excitement at the rate he is developing. Then overcome by sadness again because my little boy is growing up so fast!

I. NEED. SUPERNANNY!!!!!

Holy tantrums! Holy terrible 2's x's 2!

Wow... All of a sudden Brock has started to have some major tantrums. The kind where his entire body goes limp like a wet noodle with the ear-piercing screams and all! Thankfully it hasn't happened out in public yet. I'm hoping to try and get a handle on them or at least figure out a way to calm him down and make the tantrum a little more manageable before we have our first public tantrum.

Some things I have tried are compromising. He likes "if this, then that" scenarios. I try to get down in his face and make him look at me, but in the middle of a tantrum I am the last person he wants to look at.  I have also told him to go to his room until he is done screaming/whining/crying because I don't want to hear it. This works occasionally. I am finding that he usually just needs to have a moment to himself.

Lilly on the other hand is learning by observing... she's started having her own mini tantrums. So not cool!

As a refresher for ya, Brock is 2 1/2 and Lilly is 1 1/2. Its like a living hell on bad days!

What are some things you have done that are successful with controlling tantrums? I would appreciate any feedback!

This is Lilly's new "face." She cracks me up! Every now and then she will come up to you and give you this look. Its all about her eyes too! She has a sweet little innocent look like this one and then there's this one that makes her look like she could take you down!
